In May 1998, Spencer Organ Company removed Aeolian-Skinner Opus 914 from the O. Lee Harrison house in Dayton, Ohio. For the next 18 months, all mechanical components were restored, and the instrument reconfigured for the newly-built chamber at Milton. Installation began in October 1999, and the organ was first played Thanksgiving Sunday of that year.
Op. 914 is entirely enclosed in two chambers (Swell on right, Great on left) and contains 18 ranks with 1,121 pipes. All original pipework has been restored and remains intact. The console was stripped and refinished to match the existing church woodwork; the ivory keyboards were restored; and the original blind combination action has been replaced with solid-state equipment. Tonal additions have been made using vintage pipes and windchests, so that the transition from residential to church identity could be carried out with stylistic sympathy.
